Fire Destroys 10 Row Houses

A row of ten attached townhouses went up in flames yesterday on Simplex Avenue.
Firefighters worked to get out most of the hot spots.

Fire Chief Robert Rawls says 38 people were evacuated and are displaced. One child was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and another person was brought to the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital as a precaution. The fire started at about 7:30 a.m. and was brought under control around 10 a.m.

Firefighters are working to find a cause of the fire.
Red Cross officials were trying to find shelter for people whose homes were destroyed.
