Based on Prosper Mermiee’s novella of the same name, this masterpiece tells the tragic story of Don José, a soldier from Seville driven by a force called Fate. This force, symbolized by a flower, leads him to the seductive and free-spirited gypsy Carmen, with whom he becomes obsessed. Forced to choose between Carmen and his sweet-tempered fiancée Micaela, Don José is led by fate down a path to his own eventual destruction.
